📳 Vibration Exposure Calculator — A(8)

Compute daily vibration exposure A(8) for hand-arm (grinders, drills, breakers) and whole-body (forklifts, trucks, loaders) from vibration magnitude and exposure time. Compared to EU directive 2002/44/EC action & limit values (transposed in France; reference practice in Morocco).

Tasks of the day

Magnitude: use the manufacturer's declared value × in-use factor, or measured data. Typical: angle grinder 4–8 m/s², chipping hammer 10–20, chainsaw 4–6, forklift 0.6–1.1 (WBV), articulated dumper 0.8–1.3.

Task / toolTypeVibration m/s²Exposure min/dayPartial A(8)Points

Action / limit values (2002/44/EC): HAV — EAV 2.5 m/s² A(8), ELV 5.0 m/s² A(8). WBV — EAV 0.5 m/s² A(8), ELV 1.15 m/s² A(8). Above EAV: vibration reduction program + health surveillance. Above ELV: immediate action to reduce below the limit. Points system: 100 points = EAV (HSE convention), partial points add linearly.
